Terms of service

Last updated Aug 20, 2026

Plain terms for a small product. By using OfferCompass you agree to these; if something here does not work for you, email us before you subscribe rather than after.

The service

OfferCompass is a web application for writing, scoring and exporting resumes and related documents. We may add, change or remove features. If we remove something you are relying on and you are on a paid plan, we will tell you before it happens.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for the content you put into it. One account is for one person; sharing credentials across a team is not permitted, and neither is reselling access.

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.

Your content is yours

You keep all rights to the documents you create. We take the limited licence needed to store, render, score and export them on your behalf, and to send text to our model provider when you ask for a generation. That licence exists only to run the product and ends when you delete the content.

The job index

The job search reads openings from the applicant tracking systems employers use to run their own hiring, and from the career pages those systems publish. We crawl them with an identified crawler that honours robots.txt, we link every posting to the employer's own application page, and we never route an application through us.

We do not own those postings and we make no claim to them. The rights in a job advertisement stay with whoever published it. What we store is what a search result needs (the role, the employer, the location, the terms it mentions and an excerpt), together with a copy of the text used to score it against your resume.

The index is a moving object. Its size and composition change every day as postings open and close, as employers change how they publish, and as we add or drop sources. Nothing here is a promise about how many postings you will find, which employers appear, or that any particular posting is still open when you reach it, so always confirm on the employer's own page.

If a publisher or employer asks us to stop indexing them, we stop, and their postings leave the index. That can reduce what the search covers, and it is not a defect or a failure to deliver. Where a removal materially changes what a paid plan is worth to you, tell us.

Applying happens on the employer's site, under their terms and their privacy policy. We are not a party to it, we do not submit anything on your behalf, and we do not know what happens after you click through.

If you find personal data in an indexed posting that should not be there, a private individual's contact details for instance, report it and we will remove it.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service to create documents that misrepresent someone else's identity, credentials or licences
  • Attempt to access other users' documents or our systems without authorisation
  • Resell, sublicense or systematically scrape the service
  • Extract, copy or redistribute the job index in bulk, or use it to build or feed another job listing product
  • Use it to generate content that is unlawful where you or the recipient are located

What we do not promise

We do not promise you an interview, an offer, or any particular outcome from a job application. The ATS score is an estimate based on documented parsing and ranking behaviour, not a guarantee about any specific employer's software.

AI-generated text is a draft. You are responsible for checking that everything in a document you send is true, including anything a model produced. Do not send a resume you have not read.

Text produced by the writing, tailoring, summarising and translation features is generated by an artificial intelligence system and is identified as such in the interface at the point it is produced. You decide whether to keep, edit or discard it, and a document you export contains no marking of its own — so where you are asked to declare AI assistance, by an employer or anyone else, that declaration is yours to make.

We use general-purpose AI models supplied by our infrastructure provider. We do not use your documents, your inputs or the generated output to train models.

We do not promise any particular coverage of the job market. See “The job index” above.

How the contract is concluded

Presenting plans on our pricing page is an invitation to treat, not a binding offer. You make the offer by completing checkout; the contract is concluded when we confirm the subscription or first give you access to the paid plan, whichever happens first.

The contract is concluded in English. We store the contract text together with the terms in force at the time, and you can obtain a copy at any time by asking us. Before submitting the order you can review and correct your entries in the checkout, and you can abandon it at any point by closing the window.

Prices and tax

All prices are total prices for consumers and include any applicable VAT. There are no setup fees, no per-export charges and no costs added at checkout.

Prices are quoted in US dollars. Your bank or card issuer may apply its own conversion rate and foreign transaction fee, which is a matter between you and them and is not received by us.

We may change prices for future billing periods. An increase never applies to a period you have already paid for, and we will tell paid subscribers before it takes effect, in time for them to cancel first.

Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer you have a statutory right to withdraw from a paid plan within fourteen days, without giving a reason. The formal instruction required by Art. 246a EGBGB, together with the model withdrawal form, is set out at /withdrawal and forms part of these terms.

Where the law would entitle us to compensation for the part of the service you used before withdrawing, we waive it in full. Nothing in these terms shortens, conditions or excludes the statutory right.

Billing and cancellation

Paid plans bill in advance through our payment processor, on the interval you chose, until you cancel. Cancelling stops future charges and leaves your access in place until the end of the period you have already paid for.

You can cancel at any time from your billing page, or without signing in through the cancellation form at /cancel, which is the route §312k BGB requires us to provide. You will receive written confirmation stating the content of the cancellation, the time we received it and the date the contract ends.

If we ever shut down, we will give notice and provide a way to export everything.

Refunds beyond the statutory right are a matter of our own policy, set out at /refund-policy.

Suspension

We may suspend an account that is abusing the service, attacking our infrastructure, or using it to impersonate someone. Where a suspension is our error we will restore it and extend your period; where it is not, we will still let you export your documents.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost employment opportunities.

Changes and contact

We will post changes here with a new date, and we will email paid subscribers about material ones. Questions: support@offercompass.app.
