Experience
Senior Backend Engineer, Northwind Payments · Remote (Oakland, CA)Mar 2022 – Present
Rebuilt the double-entry ledger on an append-only event store, lifting sustained throughput from 400 to 9,200 writes per second while keeping balance reconciliation exact.
Led the shard migration of 42M accounts off a single Postgres primary across six weeks with zero customer-visible downtime and no rollback.
Cut p99 settlement latency 71% (2.4s to 690ms) by replacing synchronous fan-out with a batched outbox consumer.
Mentored four engineers; two were promoted to senior within eighteen months.

Choosing

What actually matters in a template

Less than people think, and not the parts that get argued about.

One column is the safe default

Two-column layouts are handled correctly by every modern parser and by most old ones. If the employer is very large and very traditional, or the posting asks for a plain document, take the single column and stop thinking about it.

Length beats layout

A template that fits your history on one page without shrinking the type to eight points is doing more for you than any visual flourish. If you are over by three lines, cut a bullet rather than the margins.

Colour is a signal, not decoration

One accent, used twice, reads considered. Law, policy and senior finance read black-on-white as a sign you know the room. Design and startups will not hold a green heading against you.

You can change it later

Content and layout are separate here. Switching template restyles the document in place: nothing is retyped, no section is lost, and your score does not move.
